  2. So I like a few things about this book, but only a few. I LOVE the Cersi picture and the Sansa Stark one, as well so some of the more intricate pieces, but I’m irked by the ‘quality’ of some of the images. Coloring Book brings to the mind of sharp crisp and bold black line, but there are some pictures that feel more like sketches and are unfinished in some fashion. This is counted by the good intricate and complex images. I was really wanting to see more characters, but we only get Cersi, Sansa, Loras, Melisandra, Vareys, Daario, and even Khal Drogo… no BIG players everyone would love to color. No Tryion, Jaime, any of the other Starks, Cersi’s spawn, Danerys… etc.

TL;DR: Some great images for coloring, the rest feels… poopy. Honestly I’d rather scour the internet for free linearts from artists for the series. Check the book out in stores and see if its for you… but I can’t honestly recommend buying this book.

  3. As a huge fan of adult coloring books and Game of Thrones, I couldn’t wait to get my hands on this! The following are my pros and cons:

    – 4/5 stars because there are no pictures of most of the main characters. If you’re looking to color Jon Snow, Tyrion, Arya, Dany, etc. they will not appear here. I knew this going in because I read other reviews, however, and I still made the choice to buy. Which leads me to,

    – The art is lovely. The artwork looks to be based off of the book series rather than the HBO series, which I wanted. This is the problem that I have with the very movie-oriented Harry Potter coloring book. There are many different categories of pictures from all over The Seven Kingdoms and beyond The Wall. There are character drawings: Cersei, Sansa, Loras, The Red Woman, Daario, Varys, Coldhands, Children of the Forest, Khal Drogo (presumably because of his braid), Giants and armies. There are also crests, banquets, weapons, direwolves, castles and strongholds. The details in most of these pictures are fantastic but a few are a little more crude than I’d like (such as Winterfell). Still, these pictures give you plenty of opportunity to fill in more details on your own.

    – The paper is thick and the drawings are only on one side of the page. If you read reviews of other adult coloring books there are lots of complaints about the double sided drawings, because a lot of people like to use markers which would bleed through to the other side, forcing them to have to pick one side to color and ruin the other side. Some people also like to hang the finished pictures up which would also mean they would have to choose only one side. Each picture in this book is set alongside a quote describing the scene/character it is taken from, which I think is a great touch.

Overall I love this coloring book and would recommend to anyone who is a fan of George R.R. Martin’s vivid and amazing world!

  4. I get the feeling this was a rushed project, which is a real shame because this could have been awesome. Some of the illustrations are clean and finished-looking, while others look sketched, and others look like they were just thrown together at the last minute in because they needed to finish and get the book sent to print. Different pages were made by different illustrators, which doesn’t make the book feel cohesive.

Besides the unpolished look of the drawings, many characters were left out. This was a great idea and had the opportunity to be an interesting a fun gift idea for any GoT fan, but now I’m not even sure I want to give it because it’s so disappointing.
